Bothersome to appearance, disturbing to vision

Removing changes

The procedure to remove these growths is simple, painless and in the hands of our ophthalmologist specialized in cosmetic surgery, also entirely safe. By removing these growths, you will not only care for better eyesight, even if doing so preventatively – you will also restore your face's original appearance.

  • Pre-operative examination
    Duration: 15 minutes

At the examination, we assess the nature of the changes that are causing trouble in the eye area. If these are changes to the skin that are bothersome primarily from an aesthetic point of view, we have a discussion on your wishes and expectations and, on the basis of this consultation, advise you on the most appropriate procedure and present the results you can expect from treatment.

  • Surgical treatment
    Duration: 30 – 60 minutes

All treatments performed on the eyelids and on the skin around the eye area are normally carried out as outpatient surgery under local anaesthesia. The duration of surgery depends on the type of procedure and the extent of the changes, but usually takes between 30 minutes and one hour. During the first several days following surgery, our doctors are available to you by telephone 24 hours a day. We believe that quick and easy doctor availability is very important because it provides our patients with a feeling of safety and peace of mind.

  • Post-surgery examination
    Duration: 15 minutes

A post-operative control examination is necessary for more demanding types of procedures, sometimes also for the removal of sutures (stitches). These control examinations are always scheduled in a way that allows us to carefully monitor your recovery, which ensures safety and an optimal final result in treatment.

Why do cysts and warts appear?

Warts usually appear as a reaction of skin to viruses. They grow slowly, and are also prone to itching and can often become inflamed, and cause discomfort or pain. Cysts occur when gland secretion or sweat accumulates under skin in a gland. If they appear on the edge of the eyelid, they can affect vision.

Must this changes necessarily be removed?

No, but it is recommendable. Warts tend to grow in large numbers. Cysts can grow quickly and site-threatening.

How large must the change be to remove it?

Also very small cysts and warts can cause problems in sight, and are disturbing because of inflammation, itching or discomfort. With precise surgical instruments also very small changes can be removed. We do not need to wait that they grow.

Is there a scar after removal?

The skin around eyes is very thin but it heals fast. Postoperative scar appearance depends on the largeness of the alteration. If there is a smaller alteration, there are no scars after surgery, but if the alteration is left to grow too much before its removal, small postoperative scars can be seen after surgery.
